Josef Gottlander is a Swedish operatic bass with a bachelor and master the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus, with teachers Reinaldo Marcias and Bodil Øland.

Some of the roles he has sung includes Sarastro in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, Staatsanwalt Loering at The Royal Academy of Music when they premiered Bent Lorentzen’s opera Der Steppenwolf in 2016. Josef was also the cover of Carl when the Danish National Opera performed the acclaimed Nothing by David Bruce, where he performed one show also sang in the choir.

He also sings concerts as a soloist, now latest Fauré’s Requiem and Lars-Erik Larsson’s God in Disguise in Visby cathedral. Among other works on the repertoire is Mozart’s Requiem and Jesus in Bach’s St. John’s Passion. Other concerts include Bach’s Reformation cantata (no. 79) with the Danish Sinfonietta and soloist in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio and parts of Handel’s Messiah.
